A man from the region who was trapped underneath a vehicle after a parking lot crash was rescued by employees from a tow truck company and a police officer. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the parking lot of Tilly's Diner at 34 Raceway Road in Monticello. According to Lt. Forest Rangers Rescue Severely Injured 78-Year-Old From Mountain In Region
A hiker on a mountain in the region who may have broken their pelvis in a fall was rescued by forest rangers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The incident occurred in Ulster County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, on Overlook Moutain in the Echo Lake area in Woodstock. According to the DEC, Ulster County 911 requested Forest Ranger assistance for an injured hiker on Overlook Mountain in the area of Echo Lake. 21-Year-Old Jumps From New Tappan Zee Bridge
This story has been updated. A 21-year-old man jumped midspan from the new Tappan Zee Bridge and was rescued from the water. The incident occurred on the Westchester/Rockland County border around 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13. According to the Tarrytown Fire Department, the Marine 5 crew responded within minutes, equipped with rescue swimmers onboard. A young explorer has some dedicated search and rescue crews to thank for pulling him to safety after he became trapped inside a popular cave in the region. The Albany County incident happened Sunday afternoon, June 30, in the town of New Scotland at the Clarksville Cave. A 30-year-old autistic man who had wandered away from an Airbnb his family was staying at in the region was found hours later with the help of drones. The incident occurred Saturday, June 15, in Sullivan County around 1 a.m., in the town of Forestburgh.
