65-Year-Old Woman Seriously Injured In Hudson Valley Pedestrian Crash A 65-year-old woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy Hudson Valley roadway. Capt. Ralph Cropley of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police said the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the intersection of Hooker Avenue and Austin Court. An investigation found that a 2017 Volvo V60 SUV, driven by a man from Poughkeepsie, was traveling northwest on Hooker Avenue when it struck the woman as she was attempting to cross the road northbound at or near a crosswalk, Cropley said. High School In Region Dismissed After Bomb Threat: Police Students and staff have been sent home for the day to allow police to investigate a bomb threat at a Hudson Valley high school. The Town of Poughkeepsie Police said Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie received the threat late Monday, Dec. 9d. The department said several other school districts in the region also received the threat. The threat is believed to be a hoax. Out of an abundance of caution, the Spackenkill School District has dismissed the high school students and staff to allow for a complete investigation. Police To Target Aggressive Drivers In Town In Region: Here's Where As aggressive drivers flood the roadways, a town in the region will increase traffic enforcement to address the issue. The patrols will occur in Dutchess County in the town of Poughkeepsie in the coming weeks. According to the town of Poughkeepsie Police, officers will actively monitor for violations such as speeding, unsafe lane changes, passing red lights, and other dangerous driving behaviors.  "Our goal is to enhance road safety and ensure a secure driving environment for everyone," the department said. The enforcement will take place throughout the town limits.

4 Shot, 1 Critically, In Hudson Valley During Large, 'Disorderly,' Gathering, Police Say Four people were shot, one critically, in the region during a large, disorderly gathering. The incident occurred in Dutchess County in the city of Poughkeepsie around 3:30 a.m., Friday, July 5, in the area of 380 Main St. According to Det. Sgt. Terrance Beam of the Poughkeepsie Police, responding officers, encountered a large disorderly group and four people suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers began rendering aid to the victims and secured a crime scene.
