A man from the region who was due to be released from prison on an unrelated charge is now being held after being accused of raping a young girl. In early September, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office Corrections Intelligence Unit discovered that an incarcerated man at the Ulster County Jail had been electronically communicating with a 14-year-old girl who did not appear to have a familial connection to him. Man Drove Drunk With Child In Pickup Truck At Service Area In Region: Police
A man is facing a felony charge under Leandra’s Law after allegedly driving drunk with a child in his vehicle at a Hudson Valley service area. The incident happened at about 3 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, when troopers in Rockland County patrolling the Ramapo Service Area observed a 2017 Nissan pickup truck parked with its headlights on. An Albany County man accused of killing a 6-year-old baby who had methamphetamines in his system was offered a plea deal on Friday, Aug 9, authorities said. Anthony Ojeda, 42, of Cohoes, is charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the first degree, and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the 2019 death of Eli Ojeda, the Albany District Attorney's Office said. Couple Leaves Infant On Beach While Boating At Lake George, Police Say
Two parents are accused of leaving their infant child alone while they went boating on a popular beach in New York frequented by residents throughout the state and elsewhere. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon, June 18, on the western shore of Lake George, near Lake Shore Drive. New York State Police said someone called 911 after hearing the infant crying and finding the child unattended roughly five feet from the shoreline. The child was not injured.
