Man Accused Of Stealing, Using Credit Cards In String Of Vehicle Break-Ins In Capital Region

A 34-year-old Albany man is facing numerous charges after being linked to a string of vehicle break-ins and stolen credit card use in the Capital Region, police said.

The investigation into the incidents began on Friday, Dec. 13, when several vehicle break-ins were reported in the Rensselaer County town of Sand Lake, New York State Police announced on Thursday, Dec. 26. 

Police found that various items, including credit cards, had been stolen. Authorities later discovered that one of the stolen credit cards had been used in East Greenbush. 

Authorities soon located the suspect, Albert G. Lindh, age 34, of Albany, near where the stolen credit card had last been attempted. Upon taking him into custody, troopers found him in possession of multiple stolen items, including credit cards, as well as glass smoking devices containing drug residue, police said.

Further investigation revealed that some of the property in Lindh’s possession had been reported stolen from a vehicle in East Greenbush during the overnight hours of Wednesday, Dec. 11 into Thursday, Dec. 12. 

Lindh, who was allegedly uncooperative with investigators, was charged with:

  • Two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property;
  • Four counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property;
  • Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of stolen property;
  • Seven counts of fourth-degree grand larceny;
  • Five counts of petit larceny;
  • Second-degree obstructing governmental administration. 

Lindh was processed at the State Police barracks in Schodack and arraigned in Schaghticoke Town Court. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail.
