Pedestrian Killed By Lirr Train, MTA Says A Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train struck and killed a pedestrian late Saturday night, Dec. 28 near the Mastic Shirley station, an MTA spokesperson confirmed. The incident happened at approximately 11:10 p.m. between the William Floyd Parkway crossing and the station. Both MTA and local police were dispatched to the scene. Authorities have not yet determined why the individual was on the tracks. The investigation remains ongoing, the spokesperson said. The incident caused delays on the Montauk Branch, but service has since resumed.

23-Year-Old Hit, Killed By Lirr Train In Sayville A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed after he was struck by a Long Island Railroad train. According to David Steckel with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Christopher Reitzel, of Medford, was hit by LIRR Train 64 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10, west of the Sayville Train station when he was on the tracks without authorization. EMS transported Reitzel to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead, MTA said.
