Long Island House Fire Leaves Family Dog Dead A house fire on Long Island left a dog dead. The blaze began at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 on Seaman Road in Jericho. Responders arrived to find the home engulfed in flames from the second floor and heavy smoke throughout.  All residents made it out safely, though the family’s dog was found dead inside.  The Nassau County PD Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating. Firefighters from Jericho, with assistance from Syosset, Hicksville, Westbury, Plainview, Bethpage, South Farmingdale, Glenwood, and Carle Place, responded and extinguished the fire.

Nassau County Police said three unknown female suspects rummaged through the owner’s belongings, leaving his residence “disheveled.” The trio then fled the scene in a gray Chrysler minivan. 3 Hospitalized After Overnight Long Island Expressway Crash Two men and a woman were hospitalized after an overnight crash on the Long Island Expressway. It happened just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Jericho. That's when a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound and struck a 2005 Isuzu in the vicinity of Exit 40E, according to Nassau County Police. The driver of the Isuzu, a 55-year-old man, was establishing a construction zone at the time of the accident, Nassau County Police said.  The collision damaged the passenger side of the Volvo and caused a 35-year-old female passenger to become trapped.  Nassau County …

Inside Job: Pair Steals Copper Wire From Long Island Employer, Police Say Two Long Island men were arrested after police allegedly discovered they were swiping copper wire from their employer. Nassau County Police Department received notification of the theft from a company in Jericho between Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16. The report indicated that a burglar had stolen copper wire from Getty Terminal Corp, located at 125 Jericho Turnpike. After an investigation, police arrested two employees for the theft — 35-year-old Carlos Hernandez of Bellerose and 23-year-old Hugo Ayala of Malverne.
