This story has been updated. A car crashed and caught on fire on Interstate 87 in Rockland County after snow from the vehicle in front of it blew off and caused it to lose control, police said. The incident happened on Interstate 87 North in Spring Valley on Monday, Feb. 10 at around 2:40 p.m. just before Exit 14, according to New York State Police. An investigation determined that the vehicle had been driving in the northbound lanes when snow from the roof of the car in front blew onto the victim's car, causing it to crash into a ditch. A crash temporarily blocked part of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland County and resulted in injuries amid snowy weather. The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 6 at around 9:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes just south of Exit 16 in Stony Point, according to 511NY. As a result of the crash, the right lane was blocked to traffic in the area. It has since reopened as of 11:45 a.m. Injuries were reported. Ulster County resident Tammy Hyatt of Ellenville died around 11 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, on Otens Road in Wawarsing. Police have identified a 40-year-old Hudson Valley man who was killed in a three-vehicle crash. Alberto Mata, of Chester, was killed around 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, on Route 94 (Main St.), in front of the Chester Firehouse, said the Village of Chester Police.
