Serious Crash Affects Route 17 Stretch In Wallkill, Causes Injuries (Developing)

A serious motor vehicle accident forced a lane closure on a stretch of Route 17 in Orange County, causing significant traffic disruptions as authorities conducted an ongoing investigation.

The crash happened on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at around 3 a.m. Route 17 between Exit 122 at Crystal Run Road and Exit 122A at Fletcher Street, leading to a full eastbound closure of the highway between these exits, the Town of Wallkill Police Department announced at around 5:30 a.m. 

As of 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, the right lane of two lanes was blocked to traffic, causing backups. 

Authorities are now investigating the crash and are asking motorists to avoid the area. Injuries were reported.
