Would-Be Victim Foils Attempted Phone Scammer In Inwood, Police Say
A quick-thinking Long Islander avoided falling victim to an alleged phone scammer.
The 73-year-old Inwood woman contacted Nassau County Police on Wednesday morning, Oct, 2, saying a man had called her claiming to work for her bank’s fraud department.
During the call, he told the woman there were fraudulent charges on her bank card and they would arrange for someone to pick up the card from her home.
Fortunately, the woman realized she was being scammed and contacted detectives.

Cop Hospitalized After Motorist Becomes Combative In Valley Stream, Police Say
A police officer was hospitalized after a Long Island motorist allegedly became combative after being stopped near an intersection.
Officers conducted the traffic stop of a 2012 Dodge Challenger in Valley Stream in the vicinity of Hook Creek Boulevard and 136th Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2.
During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Albert Dodson, age 30, of Hempstead, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license, according to Nassau County Police.

Three women are facing prostitution charges after an undercover operation at a Long Island business.
The investigation was conducted at SPA located in Bellmore at 2556 Merrick Road on Thursday, Sept. 5.
It was determined illegal massages and prostitution were being conducted at this location, Nassau County Police said.
Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives placed Jholdana Rojas, age 37, of Paterson, New Jersey, Youchun Zhang, age 49, of Bellmore, and Shaoyu Xiong, age 36, of Flushing, Queens, under arrest without incident.

'Serial Rapist' Convicted Of 3 Violent Hempstead Incidents
A 36-year-old "serial rapist" was found guilty Friday, Sept. 6, of raping three women on Long Island after DNA linked him to the attacks, some of which stretch back nearly a decade, authorities said.
Queens resident Adell Hardwick, age 36, was convicted of three counts of rape, predatory sexual assault, and three counts of criminal sexual act, the Nassau County District Attorney's Office said.
He faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced on Thursday, Sept. 26.

14-Year-Old Missing Nearly 2 Weeks Among Nassau County Teens Located Safe
A 14-year-old boy gone for nearly two weeks was among three Long Island teenagers who were found safe after relatives reported them missing.
Edwin Palacios Umana, age 14, had last been seen at his Lakeview residence on Wadleigh Avenue at around 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, Nassau County Police said Umana was located. No other details were given.

Long Island Gas Station Owner Attacks Person With Knife, Police Say
A Long Island man was charged with assault for allegedly hitting a neighboring business employee with a knife during a parking dispute.
The incident occurred in Nassau County around 1:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, in Franklin Square.
According to the Nassau County Police, Daljit Singh, age 58, of Hicksville, the owner of the OK Gas Station on Park Road, had a verbal dispute with an employee of another business regarding car parking on his property.
