$2M Scheme: 3 NYers Among 4 Nabbed For Defrauding Company, Feds Say
Four men have been accused of creating hundreds of fictitious brokerage accounts in defrauding a financial services company of more than $2 million.
They have pleaded guilty in federal court in Central Islip to money laundering conspiracy in connection with the scheme involving the global financial services firm based in Menlo Park, California, which is located near San Francisco.
Three of the four are Long Island residents:
Edward Hernandez, also known as “Ghost,” age 33, of Lindenhurst;

West Nile Virus Found In Mosquitoes On Long Island; Here's How To Protect Yourself
Health officials on Long Island are urging people to take precautions after testing of mosquitoes confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus.
Twelve mosquito samples were positive for the virus following testing done at locations around Suffolk County, according to county Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott.
The samples were collected on Sunday, July 2, and Monday, July 3, in Northport, Melville, West Babylon, Lindenhurst, Holbrook, Holtsville, North Patchogue, Farmingville, and Manorville.
It brings the total number of positive mosquito samples this year to 16.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is warnig New Yorkers that severe heat and high humidity will pose a significant health risk from Monday, July 15, through Wednesday, July 17.
Temperatures during that stretch are likely to bring dangerous heat indexes between 95 and 104 degrees across the entire state.
