A man is accused in a string of thefts that occurred at a Long Island college. Garden City Police arrested Austin Withers, age 28, of Hempstead, at his Crowell Street residence on suspicion of grand larceny and related charges Saturday, Aug. 24. According to police, Withers was seen stealing a wallet inside the Adelphi University library in Garden City on Tuesday, June 18. He allegedly used credit cards found in the wallet to make purchases at the Jamaica train station. A man has been accused of committing multiple acts of public lewdness on Long Island. Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct Patrol officers responded to Burger King on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma at around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, after two female employees reported a man committing a lewd act in plain sight in the parking lot. Suspect At Large After Man Shot In Face In Broad Daylight In Syosset
A suspect is on the loose after a shooting in broad daylight on Long Island. It happened around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Syosset near 225 Underhill Blvd. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 34-year-old man had sustained a gunshot wound to the face, Nassau County Police said. A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly exposing himself to two minors on a Long Island bus. The incident happened in Cedarhurst, on an MTA bus that was traveling near Rockaway Turnpike and Rugby Road, at around 9:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19. Police are investigating after a woman was killed in an overnight Long Island crash. It happened around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in North Bellport. A Long Island man has been accused of touching a woman near a local school following a weeks-long investigation. The incident happened on Sunday, June 23, in Seaford. A case of mistaken identity led to a husband and father being gunned down in the backyard of his Long Island home, prosecutors said. Oliver Schor, age 22, and Christopher Fernandez, age 28, both of Sound Beach, were formally arraigned on murder charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 9, in the fatal shooting of Michael Hartmann. Police recovered nearly $50,000 that was taken from a Long Island man in a scam earlier this week. An 89-year-old Melville resident called a number he found on the Internet on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at approximately 1:30 p.m. to help him with a computer password problem.
