Toddler, Grandparents Lose Home, Daycare In 'Unimaginable' Long Island Fire The community is rallying around a Long Island family after their home and business was destroyed in a fire. Flames broke out at a two-story residence, located in Lindenhurst on 51st Street, at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8. The house is the site of Mama Rutty’s Daycare, owned by Esmeralda Mejia, according to state records. Trio Nabbed For Murder Of North Amityville 48-Year-Old In East Farmingdale Three men have been charged with murder after a victim was found dead on the side of a Long Island roadway. Suffolk County Police  First Precinct officers in East Farmingdale responded to Garity Place after a passerby called 911 to report a man on the side of the road at approximately 1:35 a.m. Saturday, June 22. The man, Juan Carlos Diaz Geronimo, age 48, of North Amityville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Farmingdale Fire Department.
