2.5+ Million Teslas Investigated For Crashes Linked To Remote Driving Feature, Nhtsa Says A federal investigation has been launched into more than 2.5 million Tesla vehicles after reports of crashes involving a system that allows vehicles to be remotely controlled through a smartphone app, officials said. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened the probe into Tesla's "Actually Smart Summon" system on Monday, Jan. 6. No Mechanical Failure Before NY Plane Crash That Killed 34-Year-Old Pilot, NTSB Finds Federal investigators have ruled out mechanical failure for causing a small plane crash in upstate New York that killed a beloved pilot and photographer.
