DOT Worker Races To Save Drivers In Fiery I-84 Crash In Hudson Valley A New York State Department of Transportation employee proved to be a hero after his quick thinking ensured the safety of two drivers following a fiery crash on Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley.  The crash happened on Monday morning, Feb. 9, when two cars collided on I-84 near Route 747 in the New Windsor area, the NYSDOT said on Tuesday, Feb. 10.  Shortly after the crash, DOT Equipment Operator Instructor Brian Hoornbeek happened to be driving by and spotted the wreck on a snowbank on the side of the interstate.
