Dead Bear Snags Traffic On Busy Hudson Valley Road, Prompting Police Response A bear found dead on a major Rockland County roadway caused a temporary traffic hazard until it could be removed.  The incident happened on Monday night, Oct. 20, in Pomona, where Chaverim of Rockland and Ramapo Police responded to the area of Route 306 near Route 202 after drivers reported the animal in the road, The Monsey Scoop reported.  Chaverim volunteers quickly arrived and moved the bear to the side of the road to prevent further traffic disruptions, according to the outlet.  No injuries or vehicle damage were reported in connection with the incident. Bear Sighted In Public Park In Hudson Valley A bear sighting in an Orange County park prompted a warning from police. The incident happened on Monday, Sept. 22, when the City of Middletown Police said a bear was seen inside Fancher-Davidge Park on Lake Avenue.  In an update on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, the department said the animal had appeared to have left the area and that the park remains open.  The department added that while bears typically steer clear of people, officers are monitoring the situation and will notify the state Department of Environmental Conservation if the animal becomes a threat.
