Fatal Furniture Truck Crash: 1 Dead, 1 Injured After Brakes Fail In Dutchess County A New Jersey man was killed and another injured after a box truck loaded with furniture lost control on a steep hill and crashed into trees in the Hudson Valley, according to authorities.  The crash happened around 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, on Wingdale Mountain Road near Clove Valley Road in the Dutchess County town of Union Vale, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said on Friday, May 30.  Investigators say a 2007 Freightliner box truck was traveling westbound when the driver, a 32-year-old Union County resident of Elizabeth, NJ, lost control while going down a steep hill. …

Blaze Destroys Mail Truck In Dutchess County: Now Under Investigation A US Postal Service truck caught fire in Dutchess County on Tuesday afternoon, May 27, but luckily, firefighters were able to stop any mail from being damaged. The blaze happened at around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, when a mail truck caught fire at the intersection of Camby Road and Old Camby Road in Union Valew, according to the town's fire department.  When crews arrived, they found an active fire in the engine compartment of the USPS vehicle, which had begun to extend into the passenger area.
