A Long Island drunk driver had a 0.15 blood-alcohol level when she killed an elderly couple in a five-car wreck on the Southern State Expressway, authorities said Friday, April 24.
Diana Kutateladze, 36, was indicted Friday on numerous charges in connection with the deadly wreck on Sunday, March 15, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.
Donald Maxwell, 82, and his wife, Liscent “Barbara” Maxwell, 88, were killed in the crash. The Maxwells were pastors at the Pentecostal City Mission Church in Far Rockaway.

A Department of Transportation employee was seriously injured while setting up traffic cones on the Long Island Expressway, Suffolk County Police announced on Friday, Feb. 27.
Highway Patrol units were dispatched to the eastbound lanes near Exit 63 in Holtsville for a report of an overturned vehicle at 9:41 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, according to the release.
As DOT personnel responded, Randolph Acum, 47, of Mastic, arrived in a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado and parked behind the overturned vehicle, police said.

A man and woman were killed over the weekend after their ATV veered off the road and flipped in Orange County, authorities said.
According to the Town of Montgomery Police Department, the crash happened on Sunday, July 6, around 2:56 a.m. on Berea Road near Crist Brothers Orchards. A four-wheeled ATV carrying two people was traveling north when it left the roadway, plunged into a ditch, and overturned.
Both passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Albany County wreck happened in Colonie, on Cohoes Road beneath the Route 7 overpass, at around 8 a.m. Friday, May 16.
Emergency crews responding to reports of a single-vehicle crash found a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree, Colonie Police said.
