Head-On Crash: Pair Of 11-Year-Olds Injured In Hudson Valley Two 11-year-olds on were injured in a head-on crash in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 3:20 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, on Sunny Ridge Road in New Hempstead. According to Ramapo Police Lt. Thomas Dolan, officers responding to the crash found the two injured children who were riding a miniature dirt bike on the roadway.  An investigation found the two were driving the dirt bike westbound, on the wrong side of the road, when they struck a moving vehicle head-on, Dolan said. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 5:50 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, in the area of Route 340 and Oak Tree Road in Orangetown. According to Sgt. Robert Wentland of the Orangetown Police, the victim, a bicyclist, was struck and injured while attempting to cross the intersection of Route 340 and Oak Tree Road. Crash Temporarily Closes Stretch Of Roadway In Mahopac A crash that left a vehicle on its side in the Hudson Valley caused a brief road closure.  The incident happened in Putnam County on Tuesday, Sept. 3 around 12:50 p.m., when a vehicle flipped on Myrtle Avenue in Mahopac, eventually coming to a rest next to a pole, according to Carmel Police. The crash caused Myrtle Avenue to close between Carmine Drive and Potter Road for around 20 minutes as crews worked to clear the scene.  The roadway reopened around 1:10 p.m. The cause of the crash was not released.

Fatal Crash: 31-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Hudson Valley A 31-year-old motorist was killed after crashing into a tree. The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in Columbia County. An investigation determined that a motorcycle driven by Schenectady County resident Randall D. Collins, age 31, of the town of Glenville, was traveling east on Route 28 in the town of Kinderhook when he went off the south shoulder, through a field and struck a tree, according to New York State Police. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. Niverville Fire and Greenport Rescue assisted state police. The investigation is ongoing.
