Lightning Strikes Golf Course In NY During Storm, Prompts Response A round of severe storms that swept through the Hudson Valley Monday evening, July 14, resulted in a lightning strike at a golf course in Westchester County.  Firefighters were dispatched to Hudson National Golf Club in Croton-on-Hudson after lightning struck a building on the property, the village's fire department said.  Crews thoroughly checked the structure to ensure there was no fire or further damage before clearing the scene, according to firefighters. Tornado Touched Down In NY During Round Of Severe Storms: Here's When, Where A tornado touched down in New York State during a round of severe storms, the National Weather Service has announced following a survey of the damage. The tornado hit the village of West Winfield in southern Herkimer County late Saturday morning, June 22. It's about 60 miles east of Syracuse and 85 miles west of Albany.
