Lost Hikers In Region Rescued By DEC Forest Ranger Forest Rangers rescued five hikers lost and suffering from heat exhaustion and lack of water on a trailhead at a state forest in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County at Roosa Gap State Forest in the town of Mamakating around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22. Forest rangers from the state Department of Conservation responded to a 911 call from the hikers who said they were lost and couldn't find their way back to the Cox Road trailhead in the forest, said DEC officials. Drones Help Locate Missing, Endangered Man In Region A 30-year-old autistic man who had wandered away from an Airbnb his family was staying at in the region was found hours later with the help of drones. The incident occurred Saturday, June 15, in Sullivan County around 1 a.m., in the town of Forestburgh. Mother, 2 Children Pulled From Burning Northern Westchester Home A mother and her two young children were taken to a hospital after they were rescued from a burning residence in Northern Westchester. The blaze began on Friday, May 31, around 2:45 a.m. at 38 Park Ave. in Bedford Hills.  Responding police and firefighters soon realized that three people were trapped inside, according to Assistant Chief Zachary Patierno of the Bedford Hills Fire Department.
