Deadly Bacteria Risk In Fish Sold Across NY Prompts Large Recall, FDA Says
A smoked fish recall is affecting more than 70 grocery stores across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut due to a life-threatening botulism risk, health officials said.
P. East Trading Corp., based in The Bronx, NY, issued the recall on Tuesday, June 10, the Food and Drug Administration said. State inspectors found that P. East's Salted Smoked Split Herring was uneviscerated and longer than five inches.
The long fish is a violation that increases the risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum.

A 32-year-old man is facing a felony DWI charge under Leandraâs Law after allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car on the Taconic State Parkway in Dutchess County, police said.
The incident began at around 10:48 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, in Pleasant Valley, New York State Police announced on Saturday, June 7.
Troopers pulled over a 2020 Acura heading southbound on the Taconic State Parkway for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. The driver, identified as Donny J. Peralta Parra, 32, of Queens, appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

A Queens man was arrested for driving drunk with a child in the car after a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway, authorities said.
The arrest happened on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at approximately 10:48 p.m. in Pleasant Valley, according to New York State Police.

Services for Florinda Antonia Tineo, 50, her daughter Gabriela Johailiz Difo, 17, and her sister Jeannette Tineo, 48, will be held Friday, April 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial.
