Miami Man Nearly Beheads, Murders Mom Who Came To Check On Him: Police
A 40-year-old Miami Beach man was arrested and charged with murder after an eight-hour SWAT standoff over the weekend after his New Jersey mother's body was found nearly decapitated in a dumpster, police said.
Anthony Caruso, 40, was arrested on Sunday, July 20, following the standoff at his apartment on Washington Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed by Miami Beach Police.
Police were dispatched to 800 Washington Ave.,, for a welfare check after Elizabeth Caruso’s son-in-law reported not hearing from her for over six hours, the affidavit says.

A man murdered his wife and two others before attempting suicide by cop at an upstate New York home, police said.
The Rensselaer County incident happened in the town of Grafton, at a residence on County Route 85, at around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.
Whitney Fowler, 27, called 911 reporting an altercation with her husband Joshua Fowler, 26, and requested police come to the property, according to New York State Police. While she was on the phone, the 911 dispatcher heard gunshots and the call disconnected.
