Drunk Driver Hits Pole, Flips Car Outside Dunkin’ In Region, Police Say A Saratoga Springs woman was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and causing a rollover crash in Malta late Monday night, Aug. 25. The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on state Route 67 west of Route 9, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators determined that Alyssa Joly, 25, was driving while intoxicated when she left the roadway, struck a light pole, and overturned in the westbound lane, police said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Commercial Vehicle On Route 9 In Region A pedestrian was struck and killed by a commercial vehicle on a Capital Region highway. The Saratoga County incident happened just before noon at the intersection of Fawn Road and State Route 9 in the town of Moreau, according to New York State Police. A commercial vehicle was heading northbound on Route 9 when it struck the pedestrian. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released. Going Once: Hotel In Dutchess County To Be Sold At Auction After several years of being operated by a management company, a popular, well-appointed hotel in the region is being auctioned next month. According to Ten-X, the 121-room Holiday Inn Express in Dutchess County on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie will be auctioned on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The company-owned property was originally put up for sale in 2020, but it was pulled due to the pandemic and market plunges.  Ten-X says the property is offered unencumbered by management and debt.
