More Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In Hudson Valley: Here's Where
Health officials in Orange County have detected more mosquito pools carrying West Nile Virus in the county. The discovery of the virus-carrying bugs in Goshen, announced Friday, Aug. 22, by County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and the Orange County Department of Health, follows the county’s first positive pool of the season earlier this summer in Greenwood Lake, as Daily Voice previously reported. The first human case of West Nile Virus this year has been confirmed in Westchester County, health officials announced. The case involves a man from Yonkers, the Westchester County Department of Health said on Wednesday, Aug. 20. West Nile Virus Detected In Hudson Valley County
Health officials in a Hudson Valley county warn residents to protect themselves after a group of mosquitoes tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The group was detected on Monday, June 17, in Rockland County in the town of Orangetown, according to the Rockland County Department of Health. So far this year, 33 groups have been submitted for testing. No human cases have been reported this season, and Rockland's last reported human case was in 2023.
