Police Save Man From Mid-Hudson Bridge, Get Him To Hospital Officers were able to rescue a distraught man from the Mid-Hudson Bridge on Monday night, Dec. 8, and get him to safety.  The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department said the incident began just after 7:45 p.m., when City 911 received a report of a suicidal man on the bridge. The incident happened around 4:13 p.m. on Monday, March 24, when City of Poughkeepsie 911 received a report of a suicidal man who had jumped into the river from the dock at Waryas Park, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department reported on Tuesday, March 25. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at the Mid-Hudson Bridge in Poughkeepsie around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. According to the City of Poughkeepsie Police, the troubled man had climbed over the rail of the bridge and was threatening to jump. Bill Adding Fencing To Hudson Valley Bridges To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration.
