An Orange County community is remembering a retired police lieutenant and beloved coach, volunteer, and community leader following his death at the age of 60.
Retired Port Jervis Police Lieutenant James “Jim” Bisland of Glen Spey died on Saturday, May 23, at age 60, according to his obituary.
Bisland’s death was announced by the department in a social media post on Tuesday, May 26, in which they wrote he "wasn’t just respected—he was loved."

Turning Point USA is turning to Erika Kirk.
The widow of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk has been unanimously elected CEO and chair of the board as the organization vows to carry on his work.
TPUSA is a US nonprofit that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses. Its affiliates include Turning Point Endowment, Turning Point Action, and TPUSA Faith.
In a letter dated Wednesday, Sept. 17, the board wrote, “It is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA.”

Vito Perillo, the 100-year-old mayor of a New Jersey borough, died on Sunday, Feb. 23, the borough announced.

Chestnut Hill College and Holmdel High School are mourning the loss of alumnus Billy DiMaio ’22, a standout lacrosse captain and respected community leader, who was among the victims killed in the New Orleans terror attack on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
