Fiery I-84 Crash, Police Chase In Dutchess, Putnam Caused School Lockout: Man Charged, Cops Say Authorities say they’ve arrested the driver who fled a fiery crash on I-84 in Dutchess County that triggered a lockdown at a nearby high school.  The incident began around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, when Putnam County deputies were alerted to be on the lookout for a vehicle connected to a theft in Westchester, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said in an update on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 16.  A deputy spotted the car heading north on Route 9 in Philipstown and stopped it near Indian Brook Road. Police Activity Prompts Lockout At High School In Dutchess County (Developing) A Dutchess County high school was placed on lockout Monday afternoon, Sept. 15, due to nearby police activity, officials said. At around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Wappingers Central School District Superintendent Dwight Bonk announced that John Jay High School in East Fishkill went into lockout status after law enforcement notified administrators of an ongoing police matter near Interstate 84.  Bonk said the measure was taken “as a safety precaution.” He added that the safety of students and staff was not impacted. Beloved Northern Westchester High School Student Dies At Age 16 A 16-year-old Northern Westchester high school student is being remembered for her determination to keep working and learning throughout her courageous battle with cancer.  Brooke Audrey D’Aleo, a student at John Jay High School in Lewisboro, died on Thursday, June 27 at the age of 16 after a battle with leukemia, according to her obituary.  Born in 2007, D’Aleo began life as a joyful baby, "always smiling and giggling," her obituary said.
