Dump Truck Catches On Fire, Impacts Traffic On I-84 In Southeast A dump truck fire on Interstate 84 caused major traffic disruptions in Putnam County on Monday morning, Feb. 3, as multiple fire departments responded to battle the flames.  According to the Carmel Fire Department, emergency dispatchers began receiving reports of the fire at 8:35 a.m. The incident occurred in the westbound lanes under the Interstate 684 bridge in Southeast.  The Brewster Fire Department and New York State Police were the first to be dispatched, with Brewster’s fire chief later requesting mutual aid.  Thankfully, no injuries were reported, though traffic in t…

Smouldering Van Impacts Traffic On I-84 At Dutchess, Putnam Line A van blaze slowed traffic on Interstate 84 at the border of Putnam and Dutchess counties, firefighters said. The fire happened on Friday, Jan. 24 just before 12:45 p.m., when a van caught on fire on Interstate 84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Crews were able to put out the blaze after around 30 minutes.  The incident caused traffic delays on the interstate during the response.

Blaze Destroys Vehicle In I-84 In Kent A fire completely consumed a vehicle on Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at around 2:15 p.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on I-84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to put the flames out.  No injuries were reported and the incident was safely brought under control, firefighters said.  "Remember to keep an eye on your vehicle’s condition to help prevent incidents like this," the department said in a social media post on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Driver Flown to Hospital After Truck Rolls Over On I-84 In Hudson Valley An interstate in the Hudson Valley was temporarily closed after a truck overturned, injuring the driver.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 10, when a truck crashed on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 just east of Route 312 in Brewster, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  As a result of the crash, the driver became trapped inside the truck's twisted structure.
