Snapchat Meetup At NY Library Ends With Teen Raped Behind Fire Department: Indictment
A man lured a 16-year-old girl from a public library by Snapchat before allegedly raping her behind a Long Island fire department, prosecutors announced on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Delon Hughes, 34, of Brooklyn, met the teen at the Brentwood Public Library on June 11, 2025, after using the handle “Josephpatri9300” on Snapchat to connect with her, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney said. The two then walked to the Brentwood Fire Department, where Hughes sexually abused her among parked cars, according to investigators.

A Dutchess County middle school teacher has been arrested on federal charges alleging he used social media to send explicit messages to underage students, prosecutors announced.
Daniel Alan Monarchi, 26, of Red Hook, was taken into custody on Friday, Aug. 22, and appeared in White Plains federal court, where he was ordered detained, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced on Monday, Aug. 25.

A sting operation by the Rockland County District Attorney's Office led to the arrest of a Queens man caught in the trap.
Jose Quizhpi, age 48, was indicted on Tuesday, Jan. 14, by a Rockland County grand jury on eight counts of attempted disseminating indecent materials, two counts of attempted rape, and other charges.
