More Mosquitoes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In Hudson Valley: Here's Where Health officials in Orange County have detected more mosquito pools carrying West Nile Virus in the county.  The discovery of the virus-carrying bugs in Goshen, announced Friday, Aug. 22, by County Executive Steven M. Construction Worker Killed In Mishap At Beacon Job Site A construction worker was killed after being struck by heavy machinery during an infrastructure project in the Hudson Valley. Emergency crews in Dutchess County responded to Fishkill Avenue and Conklin Street in Beacon for a report of an accident on Monday, July 28, according to the Beacon Police Department. They arrived to find that Amalio Lombardi, 61, had been struck by an excavator while on the job. Lombardi, of Goshen, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Commercial Vehicle Strikes Overpass On Route 17 In NY, Forces Closure Traffic came to a halt in Orange County Thursday afternoon, July 3, after a commercial vehicle struck an overpass on Route 17, forcing a full eastbound closure.  According to an announcement by New York State Police at around 4 p.m., the crash happened on Thursday when the vehicle hit the Greenwich Avenue overpass on Route 17 eastbound near Exit 124 in Goshen.  All eastbound lanes of Route 17 were shut down, and traffic is being diverted at Exit 122A.
