Gun-Wielding Gas Station Robber From Dutchess Who Fired Shot Past Cashier Gets Prison Time
A Dutchess County man who fired a gun during a late-night gas station robbery in Orange County and left with over $1,000 in cash will spend the next two decades behind bars.
Hans Altidor, 56, of Poughkeepsie, was sentenced Thursday, April 30, to 20 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after previously pleading guilty to first-degree robbery, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday, May 1.
The sentence stems from a July 22, 2025, robbery at a gas station on Route 9W in the Town of Newburgh.

John P. Menendez has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison for the killings of Anna Shpilberg and Luiza Shinkarevskaya, both 40, with his service weapon in Newark in February 2021, NJ Advance Media reports.
