Overdose Surge Triggers Cocaine-Fentanyl Ring Bust In Dutchess: 9 Arrested, DA Says
A major drug investigation in Dutchess County has led to nine arrests and the seizure of cocaine and fentanyl, prosecutors announced.
The multi-week probe, dubbed “Operation DC Powder Outage,” targeted a distribution network following an increase in overdoses linked to cocaine mixed with fentanyl, Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi said on Thursday, Sept. 4.
In connection with the investigation, the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed undercover purchases, search warrants, and raids that led to the arrests.

A New York father whose toddler son died from a lethal cocktail of fentanyl and other hard drugs pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Long Island resident Wilkens Adonis, 39, of Holbrook, entered the formal plea in Suffolk County Court on Monday, March 17, in the death of his 14-month-old son, Joseph.
Suffolk County Police were called to Adonis’ residence on the morning of Jan. 3, 2024, for an unresponsive child, prosecutors said. They found the boy unconscious in a bedroom shared by Adonis and the boy’s mother, Daryllee Leibrook.

Hudson Valley Dealer Admits Selling Fentanyl, Causing 3 Deaths, 3 Overdoses
A Hudson Valley man has admitted in court that he sold fentanyl that resulted in three deaths and three overdoses, according to Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
The incidents occurred in Rockland County between Feb. 2020 and April 2022.
Williams said Justin Turnick, age 25, of Congers, pled guilty to distributing the fentanyl causing the deaths and overdoses on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in US District Court.
“Justin Turnick’s actions didn’t just facilitate addiction—they fueled a crisis that claimed lives and inflicted unimaginable suffering," Willaims said.
