NJ Hiker, 21 Died Of Hypothermia On NY Mountain, Police Say (Update)
A cause of death has been released for the 21-year-old missing New Jersey woman whose dog was found alive near her body hours after she called 911 from an Upstate New York mountain last week.
Brianna "Bri" L. Mohr, of Brick Township, NJ, died of hypothermia on Thursday, Feb. 12, after she slipped off a trail near the summit of Mount Marcy just after 3 p.m., as previously reported by Daily Voice. Mohr called 911, but by the time rangers got to her around 9 p.m., it was too late. Mohr's dog, who was located near her body, was hiked to safety, officials said.

Woman Let Dog Freeze To Death Outside NY Humane Society, Police Say
An Albany County woman is facing animal cruelty charges after she allegedly abandoned a small dog that later froze to death, police said.
Deputies responded to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands on Tuesday, Jan. 13, after staff discovered an abandoned dog on the property, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.
The animal, described as a four-pound terrier mix, was found inside a box and was in poor condition when located, police said.

The death of a Putnam County woman in a tragic car crash in Connecticut has left her three well-loved dogs in need of a new home.
Diane K. Staab, age 62, was killed on Monday, Jan. 13, in a head-on crash on Ball Pond Road in New Fairfield, Connecticut, according to Connecticut State Police.

NTSB Report Sheds Light On NY Plane Crash That Killed VA Pilot, Animal Rescuer
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released a preliminary report detailing the events leading up to a plane crash in Windham, NY, that claimed the life of a Virginia pilot dedicated to rescuing dogs in need.
