Two students skinned and butchered a legally hunted black bear in a campus dorm kitchen at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, prompting outcry but no charges. A hiker from Westchester County was rescued after slipping on a wet rock and injuring their leg while hiking in the Catskills. The incident happened on Friday, July 18, around 4:30 p.m., on the Huckleberry Loop Trail in the Dry Brook Ridge Wild Forest in Delaware County, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said on Tuesday, July 22. Alert Issued For 16-Year-Old Capital Region Girl Missing 3 Days
Police are asking for help in locating a 16-year-old girl from the region who has been missing for several days. Greene County resident DeAnna Cilento was last seen at a home in Prattsville on Sunday, June 30, according to sheriff’s officials. Investigators said Cilento may have traveled to Delaware County or Brooklyn. She is 5-foot-10 and around 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. At about 10:50 a.m. the Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of trees down on campers at multiple locations with an individual trapped at the Russell Brook Campground in the Town of Colchester.
