Michelle Trachtenberg, who starred in movies and TV shows that appealed to young adults and teens, was found dead Wednesday, Feb. 26 in a New York City apartment, ABC News reported, citing police sources. She was 39. The New York City native was found by her mother at 8 a.m. in her Columbus Circle apartment, police told ABC News. Her death is not believed to be suspicious, police said. 1 Killed In Row House Fire In Region
One person was killed in a fire that tore through a Capital Region home. Multiple agencies in Greene County responded to Main and Union streets in Catskill for a large structure fire at a row house at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. One person died in the blaze, according to the Catskill Fire Company. No other injuries were reported. Flu activity remains high and is increasing across many parts of the country. For the week ending Saturday, Jan. 18, 25 percent of tests returned positive for flu, up from 19 percent the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Authorities have released details in the Friday, Jan. 17 crash along Route 9 that left one person dead in Putnam County. Norton Segarra, 74, of Beacon, NY was heading south when he veered into the northbound lanes and was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by a 60-year-old Milford, CT man around 1:30 p.m. near Route 403 in Garrison, County Sheriff Kevin J. A section of road in Putnam County has reopened following a police investigation into a death. Hughson Road in the town of Carmel was closed from Stoneleigh Avenue to Cross Road as authorities investigated a death, Carmel Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo said they were conducting a "death investigation" at the scene. There is no sign of criminal conduct and no public safety concern for those in the area, he added.
