5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Southern California A powerful earthquake has just rocked much of southern California. The 5.2 magnitude quake struck at 1:08 p.m. Eastern time Monday, April 14, with its epicenter in San Diego County, about 2.5 miles south of the town of Julian, according to the United States Geological Survey. At least seven aftershocks were felt after the initial quake.    It is not yet known if there are any reports of injuries or damage. 3.8 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes New York, Multiple Other States The US Geological Survey said a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook much of the Northeast on Monday, Jan. 27. The quake occurred at 10:45 a.m. and was initially reported as a 4.1 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located near York Harbor, approximately seven miles off the coast of Maine and about 13 miles underground. Rock-Throwing Vandal Damages Fire Truck, Other Targets In Capital Region, Police Say A 33-year-old man is accused of vandalizing a fire station and other targets in the region. Albany County resident Michael Cooper, age 33, of Cohoes, was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal mischief Thursday, July 11. Cohoes Police said officers were called to the city’s fire department on Central Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. that evening for vandalism to a fire truck. The vehicle’s windshield had been shattered by a rock, leaving nearly $1,500 in damage. Investigators identified Cooper as the suspected perpetrator and arrested him a short time later.
