Joseph Fountain, 40, of New Cassel, was shot during an incident along Railroad Avenue near Siegel Street at approximately 2:05 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, according to the Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad. A woman found dead in Milburn Pond has been identified as a Baldwin resident, Nassau County police announced on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The Homicide Squad had initially reported on Sunday, Sept. 28, that officers responded to Milburn Pond in Baldwin at 7:50 a.m. for a report of a body in the water. Upon arrival, officers located and recovered the body of an unknown female, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Nassau County Police paramedics, police said. A decorated FDNY firefighter was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Manhattan. Matthew Goicochea, 31, was riding his motorcycle on the FDR Drive around 3:45 a.m. Thursday, July 25 when he collided with another vehicle and fell onto the roadway, according to police.
