The top-prize-winning Take 5 ticket was sold for the evening drawing on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the 7-Eleven at 1320 Route 52 in the Putnam County town of Carmel, New York Lottery officials announced. Drunk Driver From Carmel Leads Officers On Short Chase In Kent: Police
A 40-year-old drunk driver was apprehended after fleeing a traffic stop in the region, police said. The incident leading to the man's arrest began in Putnam County just before 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, when a Kent Police officer saw a vehicle driving erratically on Route 311, according to the department. The officer soon tried stopping the vehicle on Terry Hill Road. However, the car ignored the officer's emergency lights and sirens and kept going, authorities said. Body Of Man From Neighboring Town Found Along Road In Putnam County
Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found along a Hudson Valley road. The body of Northern Westchester County resident Charles Flowers, age 81, of Somers, was discovered on Stoneleigh Avenue in Putnam County on Wednesday, Oct. 30 around 1 p.m. in the town of Carmel, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. Hicks said that Flowers had been a patient at Putnam Hospital in Carme but had been discharged before his death. A chief anesthesiologist at a Hudson Valley hospital has admitted to drugging a victim and sexually abusing her while she was unconscious, officials announced. Putnam County resident Paul Giacopelli of Southeast, who worked as chief anesthesiologist at Putnam County Hospital in Carmel, pleaded guilty to charges connected to his sexual abuse on Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Putnam County District Attorney's Office announced on Thursday, Aug. 22. Car Crashes Over Guardrail, Causing Closure Of Hudson Valley Road
A busy Hudson Valley road was closed for around an hour after a vehicle crashed over the guardrail into the woods. The crash happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Aug. 18 around 3:30 p.m., when a car crashed over a guardrail on Route 32 (Crane Road) in the area of Angela Drive in the town of Carmel, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. No injuries were reported and both the driver and passenger refused ambulance trips. Route 32 was closed for about an hour as the vehicle was towed away.

Part of a busy Hudson Valley road is closed after a large tree fell across it, striking power lines in the process. The stretch of Bucks Hollow Road between Astor Drive and Route 6 in the Putnam County town of Carmel is currently impassable thanks to a fallen tree, the Carmel Highway Department announced on Friday, Aug. 9 just before 4:30 p.m. The tree sparked a fire after it fell on power lines, as shown in photos of the incident released by the department. Expect Delays: Work Starts At Busy Hudson Valley Intersection
Traffic will likely be slowed at a busy intersection in the Hudson Valley as crews begin road work. The intersection of Seminary Hill Road and Church Street in the Putnam County town of Carmel will be held up by road work that began on Wednesday, July 24, according to the Carmel Highway Department. Highway Department officials advised motorists in the area to "be patient and allow extra time" as the work may hold up traffic. A 31-year-old man wanted in another state on sexual assault charges was arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a Hudson Valley crash he caused while drunk, police said.
