Officers Attacked After Armed Robbery Attempt At Long Island Antiques Store: Police
A man is accused of pulling a handgun on an employee inside an antique shop and demanding cash, police announced on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Nicholas Sarnelli, 36, of the 3000 block of Jerusalem Avenue, in Wantagh, entered L.I. Antiques at 231 Sunrise Highway in Merrick around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, Nassau County detectives said.
Sarnelli approached a 69-year-old male employee, displayed a handgun, and demanded money, police explained.
A brief struggle then broke out, causing multiple antique items inside the store to shatter, detectives said.

A New Jersey woman was arrested after fleeing police and being tracked down hours later at a New Jersey motel, authorities said.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Officer Gregory Bulick was on patrol in Saddle River when a white SUV sped past him while driving recklessly, the department said in a press release.
Bulick attempted a traffic stop, but police said the driver, later identified as Kaitlyn Slicker-Abulteen, of Warwick, NY, accelerated even more after he activated his emergency lights and sirens. For safety reasons, Bulick ended the pursuit and issued a BOLO to nearby departments.

Wei Baoguo, 34, and Yu Sheng Gui, 38, were arrested Monday, Aug. 4, in Orange County following a criminal investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the agency said.
