Driver Plunges Pickup Down Niagara Gorge — But That's Not The Shocking Part
A 42-year-old man drove his pickup truck into the Niagara Gorge on Wednesday evening, April 2, according to the New York State Park Police. Oh, and he survived. At 6:25 p.m., officers responded to a medical call outside the Aquarium of Niagara in Niagara Falls State Park. When they arrived, they found the Niagara Falls resident suffering from injuries “consistent with an accident.” Police determined that the man had driven a 2008 Toyota Tundra through a fence and into the gorge near Depot Avenue, by the Whirlpool Bridge. A car ended up in an indoor swimming pool after crashing into a Westchester fitness center. The crash happened on Friday, March 7, at around 12:30 p.m., when a vehicle crashed into Club Fit at 584 North State Rd. The car ended up in one of the building's indoor pools, as shown in a photo from the scene taken by eyewitness Christopher Tucker. No one was injured, according to the Ossining Police Department. Car Crashes On Guardrail, Nearly Flips In Pawling
Fire crews helped stop a vehicle from rolling over after it crashed over a guardrail in Dutchess County. The crash happened in Pawling on Wednesday, March 5, at around 7 p.m., when a vehicle ended up on a guardrail on Route 22, preventing the driver from getting out, according to Pawling Fire District Chief and Fire Marshall Everett White. Pawling fire crews responded to help stabilize the vehicle and stop it from rolling over. They also freed the driver. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office helped respond to the call, White said.

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle highway crash in the Capital Region that also claimed the life of a puppy. The Rensselaer County wreck happened on I-90, near exit 9 in East Greenbush, shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. A Pleasant Valley man, 49, was driving eastbound when the vehicle veered off the right shoulder, struck a tree, and overturned before coming to rest in a wooded area, New York State Police said. A 20-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital after suffering serious injuries from a fallen tree in the Hudson Valley. The incident happened in Orange County on Monday, Jan. 27, just before 1 p.m. on Lake Trail in Warwick, according to the Warwick Police Department. Officers, along with the Greenwood Lake Fire Department and Greenwood Lake EMS, arrived to find the victim with serious injuries. A 44-year-old Albany man was fatally run over by the food truck that he was operating after a mechanical failure forced him out of the vehicle Thursday, Dec. 5 in Rockland County, authorities said.
