A recently hired staffer at a Long Island high school is out of a job after troubling social media posts surfaced. Administrators at Smithtown High School East contacted the Suffolk County Police Department on Wednesday, Dec. 18, after discovering what the district described as a series of “troubling” posts the employee shared online. A teenager was apprehended after authorities say he brought a gun to his school on Long Island. The 14-year-old at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach was being interviewed by a school administrator on an unrelated matter when the student was found to have a loaded gun. A high school on Long Island had to be cleared for the second straight day after a new bomb threat.The latest incident happened around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale. An anonymous person sent a message through a crisis chat message system that bombs had been placed around the school grounds, according to Nassau County Police. Students At HS On Long Island Forced To Wait Outside As Police Scour High School For Bombs
Police on Long Island say the bomb threat made against a high school was a hoax. Kellenberg Memorial High School, at 1400 Glenn Curtiss Blvd., in Uniondale was alerted to the call just after 7 a.m., Nassau County authorities said. The call was made anonymously to the 988 Lifeline, a suicide and crisis hotline. The caller claimed to have planted bombs around the school grounds. Police and Homeland Security agents had teachers and students wait outside until they deemed the area safe. Officers are investigating who made the call.

Teen Duo Charged After Knife Found At Sachem North High School In Lake Ronkonkoma
Two teens have been charged following a dispute that allegedly prompted one of them to bring a knife to school on Long Island. A 15-year-old boy displayed the knife at his bus stop and was met by staff members as he exited the bus at Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma, according to Suffolk County Police. Girl Accused Of Threatening Mass Harm To School In Greenlawn
A teenage girl has been accused of threatening mass harm to a school on Long Island. An Old Field Middle School official in Greenlawn notified police about the threat Friday afternoon, May 17. The school searched the teen's locker, Suffolk County Police said. She was arrested at the school at approximately 4:30 p.m. and charged with making a threat of mass harm, a Class B misdemeanor. Her name has not been released due to her status as a minor. She will be arraigned in Suffolk County Family Court at a later date.
