ID Released For 44-Year-Old Struck, Killed By SUV On Long Island
The identity has been released of a man who was killed after being struck by an SUV on Long Island. The crash happened around 11:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in Inwood. The man was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Sheridan Boulevard in the vicinity of Nassau Avenue. He's now been identified as Queens resident Patrick Sean Mwesigwa, age 44, of Far Rockaway. A 35-year-old man who was driving the Explorer remained at the scene. 23-Year-Old Pulls Knife On Employees At Long Island Business, Police Say
A man is facing charges after allegedly pulling a knife on two employees at a Long Island business. The incident happened in Inwood, at the Smoke Bazaar smoke shop on Burnside Avenue, at around 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Nassau County Police said 23-year-old Cristhian Reyes got into an argument with two male employees, one 19 and the other 33. The argument escalated and Reyes displayed a knife, “placing them in fear for their safety,” police said. He is also accused of intentionally breaking two of the store's security cameras. 21-Year-Old Nabbed After Breaking Into Long Island Home, Police Say
A 21-year-old man is accused of burglarizing a Long Island home. Nassau County Police were called about a break-in at an Inwood residence on Wahl Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. When officers arrived, they found Wilber Sigaran fleeing the scene, police said. An officer caught up to Sigaran and deployed a TASER device in order to place him under arrest. Sigaran, of Inwood, is charged with assault and burglary. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, Oct. 3.

A quick-thinking Long Islander avoided falling victim to an alleged phone scammer. The 73-year-old Inwood woman contacted Nassau County Police on Wednesday morning, Oct, 2, saying a man had called her claiming to work for her bank’s fraud department. During the call, he told the woman there were fraudulent charges on her bank card and they would arrange for someone to pick up the card from her home. A man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly trying to stab a woman to death at a Long Island home. The incident happened in Inwood, at a residence on Mott Avenue, at around 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Nassau County Police said officers responded to the home for reports of a disturbance. Police are investigating the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl on Long Island. Nathalie Sevilla was last seen leaving her North Lawrence residence at around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. Relatives reported her missing the following day. Sevilla is 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black pants and a black sweater. Worker Airlifted Following Accident At Long Island Industrial Business
An employee was hospitalized following an accident at a Long Island industrial business. Emergency crews in Inwood were called to the Inwood Material Terminal located on Sheridan Boulevard shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. Nassau County Police said a preliminary investigation found that a 49-year-old man fell off the platform of an excavator and landed on the ground. Medics at the scene treated the victim for back trauma before he was flown to a hospital. The man was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal, police said. The accident is under investigation.

Stabbing Leads To Attempted Murder Charge For Long Island Man
A man is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a victim on Long Island. The incident happened at a residence in Inwood at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28. Nassau County Police said officers arrived at the home and found a 34-year-old man lying on the front lawn with a sheet wrapped around his arm, which was bleeding.
