In Saratoga County, the Saratoga Springs Police Department received multiple complaints about people pretending to work for rideshare companies and accepting fares around the Saratoga Racetrack and downtown areas. On Thursday, Aug. 1, the department conducted a targeted enforcement detail in those areas, ultimately arresting one driver and citing another. The sighting was reported on Long Island at Nickerson Beach in Nassau County.  As a precaution, the town of Hempstead also closed Lido Beach and Malibu Beach for swimmers for a brief period early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3.  Officials said the shark was spotted about 75 feet from the shore. The Albany County incident happened Sunday afternoon, June 30, in the town of New Scotland at the Clarksville Cave.
