20-Year-Old, Furry Friend Rescued From Patchogue Marina A man and his dog have some officers to thank for rescuing them from a Long Island marina. The early-morning incident happened in Patchogue, at Mascot Dock and Marina, at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Suffolk County Police said a 20-year-old Holbrook man was crabbing when his dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, jumped into the water. The man jumped in after her but was unable to exit the water. Fortunately for the pair, two Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers responded in their boat and pulled them to safety.  Both man and dog were unharmed.

Apparent Drowning: Babylon Woman Pulled From Connetquot River ID'd In Oakdale Authorities are investigating the apparent drowning of a woman on Long Island. The incident happened Sunday morning, Aug. 4, in Oakdale. An employee of the Oakdale Yacht Club, located at 520 Shore Drive, called 911 at 8:07 a.m. after observing a woman in the Connetquot River.  The woman, Catherine Andreau, age 62, of Babylon, was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Suffolk County Police.  An investigation determined that Andreau, who was staying on a houseboat, jumped into the water at 1:30 a.m. to rescue her dog.  The dog was&nbs…

Duo Saved From Sinking Boat Off Long Island Coast Disaster was averted when police rescued two Long Islanders from their sinking boat. It happened off the coast of Northport on Thursday, June 27, Suffolk County Police said. 4 Canoers Rescued From Long Island Sound After Capazing Four canoers were rescued from Long Island Sound after capsizing The incident occurred off Wading River around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21.
