21-Year-Old Nabbed In Hit-Run Bay Shore Crash That Killed Pedestrian

A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

Suffolk County Police apprehended Alexander Cerda, of Bay Shore, on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and related charges in the death of 52-year-old Eric Perez, the agency announced Thursday, March 13.

Perez was attempting to cross Main Street near Shore Lane in Bay Shore when he was struck by a vehicle at around 2:10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, as Daily Voice reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cerda is charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a fatality, grand larceny, and criminal mischief. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip later Thursday.
