Ulster County Man Hit and Killed Crossing Street
A 77-year-old Hudson Valley man was hit and killed as he crossed a busy roadway without being in a crosswalk, police said. Gary White, of Kingston, was hit by a 2012 GMC Terrain driven by a 20-year-old KIngston resident while crossing Broadway from the corner of Orchard Street around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, said Lt. P.R. Buono, of the Kingston Police. Buono said White's death was a result of injuries sustained from the crash. He died several hours later at Westchester Medical Center in Vallaha. Woman Killed In Hit-Run Crash At Busy Intersection In Region
A hit-run driver struck and killed a woman in the region, according to New York State Police. The crash happened in Dutchess County at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, near the intersection of Old Hopewell Road and Route 9 in the town of Wappinger. The 43-year-old woman was hit by a westbound vehicle. Despite efforts by Good Samaritans, she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her identity has not yet been released. Fatal Crash: 34-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Capital Region
Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left one person dead in the region. It happened around 5:10 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in Albany. The investigation determined that Albany County resident Michael F. Furch, age 34, of Guilderland, was operating a motorcycle when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete barrier exiting I-787 on the off-ramp to I-90, New York State Police said. Furch was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the shoulder of I-787 northbound below the off-ramp. Furch was pronounced dead at the scene.
