Someone Set Van On Fire Outside Long Island Home, Police Seeking Tips
Police are investigating after someone set a van on fire outside a Long Island home. The incident happened in North Valley Stream at a residence on Franklin Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Nassau County Police said someone poured a flammable liquid on a Ford Econoline van that was parked in a driveway and set the vehicle on fire. The suspect then ran away heading northbound on Franklin Avenue. Firefighters from the Valley Stream Fire Department responded to the home and extinguished the flames. A Long Island man was charged with arson after allegedly throwing an explosive device on a woman's car, causing heaving damage. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, in North Merrick. According to the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad, James Luca, age 46, of North Merrick, ignited an explosive device and threw it onto the hood of a female victim’s car, located in the driveway of her Sherman Avenue home. A 33-year-old Long Island man was charged with arson after giving a firework to an 11-year-old to ignite, which then burned a shed and two homes. The incident occurred in Levittown around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, July 4, on Red Maple Drive North. According to Nassau County Police detectives, officers responded to 128 Red Maple Drive North for reports of a fire. Man Loses Finger, 3 Others Injured In July 4th Fireworks Mishap At Long Island Home
A man lost a finger in a Fourth of July fireworks mishap at a Long Island home that also injured three others, including a child. The incident happened at a Port Jefferson Station home on Foxrun Court at around 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4. Suffolk County Police said a large crowd was gathered to watch a residential fireworks display when one firework went astray, severing the finger of a 30-year-old Selden man.
