Recall Involving Bagged Carrots Expanded: See List Of Supermarkets, Products An E. coli outbreak linked to bagged organic carrots has prompted an expanded recall as the number of cases grows. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 39 people across 18 states have been sickened.  The outbreak has resulted in 15 hospitalizations and one death. The recall initially began earlier this month when reports of illnesses linked to Grimmway Farms’ bagged carrots surfaced. Workers Injured After Torch Sparks Flash Fire At Metro-North Yard Two workers were injured when the torch they lit malfunctioned and caused a flash fire at a Northern Westchester railroad yard.  The incident happened on Thursday, Nov. 7 just before 9:45 a.m. at Metro-North's Croton-Harmon Railroad Yard in Croton-on-Hudson, according to the village's fire department. The blaze happened when two workers lit a malfunctioning torch that caused a "brief but concussive flash fire," the department said.  The workers were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

23-Year-Old Found Shot In Broad Daylight In Region A man was found shot on a city street during an incident between several people in the region. The fight occurred in Dutchess County at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 24, on Mill Street in Beacon. According to Beacon Police Chief Thomas Figlia, officers found the injured 23-year-old Beacon resident on the street; all parties were still on the scene. Figlia said the unidentified victim was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Serious Crash In Region Leaves Rider In Critical Condition A person was hospitalized in critical condition following a serious crash in the Hudson Valley that caused an hours-long road closure.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Friday, Aug. 30 at around 5 p.m., when a motorcycle crashed on Route 22 near the intersection with Route 311, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police.  The motorcyclist was later taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, Hicks said.  Route 22 in the crash area was closed until around 8 p.m. on Friday as authorities investigated the incident.
