Trooper Struck By Pickup Truck ID'd As Native From Region
A New York State Trooper from the Hudson Valley remains hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck on I-87 while outside of his vehicle during a traffic stop. Putnam County native Nicholas Abbondola, from Mahopac, was severely injured in Albany County on Saturday, Nov. 2, on the Northway southbound lanes at 12:30 p.m. A tow truck driver from Saratoga County, Brett M. Columbia County Man ID'd As Victim In Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash
A 28-year-old man from the region has been identified as the victim of a single-vehicle fatal crash in which the driver was charged with vehicular manslaughter. The collision occurred in Greene County at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, on Route 54 in the town of New Baltimore. According to Capt. Fatal Crash: Drunk 28-Year-Old Caused Head-On Capital Region Wreck Killing Woman, Police Say
More than a month after a beloved wife and mother was killed in a head-on highway crash in the region, the man allegedly responsible has been arrested. In Albany County, Bethlehem Police arrested Saratoga County resident Matthew Monthie, age 28, of Clifton Park on Friday, June 7, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and related charges in the death of Shawna Marzahl.
