A teenage boy is accused of stealing an SUV and crashing it into a home in Mastic Beach, Suffolk County Police announced on Sunday, Dec. 29. The incident began around 4:24 p.m. when a 2010 Mazda CX-9 parked on Lynbrook Drive was stolen and crashed into a residence at 103 Lynbrook Drive, police said. Two males inside the vehicle fled on foot after the crash, authorities added. A pedestrian was fatally struck by a FedEx truck on the Long Island Expressway in Jericho, authorities said. The collision happened between exits 40W and 40 at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, according to the Nassau County Police Department. A 2004 FedEx truck, driven by a 28-year-old man, was heading east in the right lane when it struck a 33-year-old man who was walking in the roadway, detective said. 72-Year-Old Killed In Crash While Driving City Vehicle In Long Island: Police
A 72-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a City of Long Beach vehicle on Friday, December 20, authorities said. The man was driving a 2019 Dodge eastbound on West Park Avenue around 8:39 p.m. when he struck the rear of a legally parked 2018 Nissan on the right-hand shoulder, according to the Homicide Squad. The parked Nissan was occupied by a 45-year-old woman, who sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, detectives said. A pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured on Commack Road in Deer Park, Suffolk County Police said on Friday, Dec. 13. The crash occurred when Daniel Martinez, 49, of North Babylon, was driving his 2022 Hyundai Elantra southbound near Marcus Boulevard and hit a man who was in the roadway at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, according to police. A man was killed after being struck by a van on Long Island. The crash occurred at about 1:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, on Buckingham Road near Princeton Road in Rockville Centre, according to Nassau County Police. The 68-year-old man was crossing westbound when he was hit by a 2023 Ford Transit van driven by a 77-year-old man.
